TGIF!

Ok it’s Friday, but not really, I have to work today and tomorrow. I do have some awesome heritage layouts to share that I got done this week. I’ll try to get them posted this weekend which is Sunday and Monday for me. I am also working on a cute Maya Road altered purse which I will post photos on as well. So nobody took advantage of the challenge I posted so there is no winner. I will try a challenge again soon as I can get more people to read my blog. I do want to make it worth reading so I try not to ramble on about personal stuff and keep this scraprelated (pun intended). Watch for posts in a few days.

Checking In

Just checking in. I actually have quite a story to tell. On Saturday my mom did her first scrapbook page. I was trying to guide her through color selection and composition but she wasn’t hearing any of it. She was grabbing ribbon, lace, brads and whatever was on my scrap table. Her response to me when I tried to guide her was”this is not a professional page like you make, this is my creation, my memories.”

Talk about light bulb moment. I began to think back to when I started scrapbooking and I felt the same way. I did not care about color and composition, I just scrapped and recorded memories. I know it sure took a lot less time to complete a page back then. So i had an epiphany. I won’t stress so much over what is on the page and how it is arranged…so much. I will just scrap my memories without the “professionalism” involved.

No work on Friday!

I’m working a weird schedule this week but no work tomorrow, yeah! So I am relaxing tonight after my quick trip to Archiver’s for some glue dots. $20 later I ended up with some new patterned paper to finish my birthday pages, a heritage page of my maternal grandparents (really excited about getting that photo of them scrapped), and some clearance paper I just had to have because it was on sale.

I may get some scrapping done later tomorrow after I finish all my running around and cleaning. I hope to have time for a crop in the next few weeks.

So I was thinking about one of my favorite things today and thought I would share my absolute favorite things list:

1. Movie: Gone with the Wind

2. Recording Artist: Luther Vandross

3. Actor: Denzel Washington

4. Actress: Sanaa Lathan

5. TV Show: Grey’s Anatomy

6. Food: Fried Chicken

7. Drink: Margarita

8. Vacation Spot: Orlando

9. Color: Red

10. Hobby: Scrapbooking of course!

Since this is a scrapblog I need to share something scrap related don’t I? So how about my absolute favorite scrap related things:

 1. Basic Grey Paper

2. MM Precision Trimmer

3. Heidi Swapp Bling

4. Chipboard

5. My Mind’s Eye Papers

6. American Crafts Albums

7. Cricut

8. Quickutz

9. Bazzill Cardstock

10. Bind it All

My list seems pretty full of the popular products but I have become a snob of sorts when it comes to scrapbooking.

I’ll get back with you before the weekend is over with a new layout or something, until then, scrap something!

Insomnia

Ok so it’s 2am and I have to work in the am but I cannot sleep. I do have a lot on my mind but I should be able to at least get some shut eye but it is not happening so here I am. I may not go to work tomorrow if I am too tired. The Two Peas Blog challenge is to blog about my dream vacation. Well, that would be Hawaii with my husband. Why? It’s such a beautiful place and the weather is always nice. I want to visit Pearl Harbor and the volcanoes. Hopefully one day soon I’ll get there.

So I am anxiously waiting on all the CHA releases to hit the stores. It’s funny, we wait so long to see what companies are releasing and then we have to wait for the new stuff to hit the stores. The new releases I am most digging is Cosmo Cricket, Fancy Pants, and BoBunny. Well I don’t need them so I guess I can wait.

I am still trying to master posting photos even though I have never had problems in the past. I am posting the layout from the other day. I used perhaps my favorite manufacturer, Basic Grey. So here goes:

I love your Smile!

Ok I hope that worked. This layout is of my son who thinks it is not cool to smile but he is so sweet and loving that he can’t help but smile all the time. He hates when I try to take photos of him so this is the smile I get. I used to fight to get more but I have learned to love his little smirk he calls a smile. So that is the layout I was trying to do last week. Hopefully I will get some layouts of my b’day done this week and get them posted. I am really tired, I wish I could sleep. Well, maybe I’ll try again, good night!

Ok here we go again!

I have been trying to get things posted here correctly and I am really frustrated. I want to announce my Spring Challenge. I will draw a name the week of 3/1 from anyone that posts a link to their spring projects by 2/29. Here is another try at posting my spring projects:

Ok it worked. Whew, what a test of patience. So hope you enjoy these projects and share some of yours too! I’ll post a photo of the rak soon!

OK I promised

OK I promised layouts but my photos are bad and I am having trouble sizing the images. Hopefully this post works.

Yesterday was my 42nd b’day and I spent it out shopping and going to the spa with my sister and mom, it was a fabulous day. Later I had a cake celebration at home with my family. I’ll try to post this cake again, I hope it works:

OK It’s not working, maybe tomorrow.

Ok so there. Today was extremely cold and what should have been a day of scrapping was a day of TV under a blanket watching “The Color Purple” for the umpteenth time. Well hopefully I’ll get some scrapping done this week but I have a lot going on. With the birthday spent running around and today spent doing nothing, I’ll need to get some grocery shopping done and some other stuff done this week so not so much scrapping. Well I check in midweek and hopefully have a challenge to share if I get it completed. Have a great scrap week.

It’s Wednesday again!

Exhausting week at work but I wanted to make sure I posted here. Stll getting around to posting crop layouts so hopefully this weekend I’ll get them up. My b’day is Saturday and I’ll be 42! Wow! I remember when I thought that was old! Not anymore. I am going to the spa with my mom and sister and can’t wait for my girl’s day out! Stay tuned later in the week I will post my first challenge. For a hint, it will be using spring papers and colors so start hunting your stash! That’s all for now, just wanted to check in. Have a good night!

A Sad Day!

I was excited to return home from my crop this weekend and share some layouts with you. Unfortunately the weekend was marked with not one sad event but now two. We normally have around 20 scrappers who will visit the LSS in the area and spend a pretty decent amount. We were planning to do that this weekennd but received an email early last week notifying us that the store would be closing and the sale would start Friday. Well, we had a very bad snow storm Friday so the sale started Sat. Our crop started Sat morning so we decided to make the store sale before we got started. First let me just say that we would have shopped at this store whether there was a sale or not, as we always do when we crop. Why? Because, the owners often crop with us, open the store for us on Sunday, let us borrow samples, and are just plain nice people. So let me get to the sad part.

We get to the store, it is packed. There are around 20 people there and people steady filing in. The owner greets us and tells us how much she appreciates our patronage over the past two years and apologizes for having to close the store. We are all teary eyed becuse we love them and their store. Meanwhile, people continue to pour into this store. The owner commented that traffic had been so slow the last few months that they were forced to close because they could not pay the bills. Well now it is almost 100 people in the store. The racks are being picked clean. Well, where were these people the last two months? Why did they not shop there before the store was forced to close?

I get home and check my email and see that there is another store closing! I was just in the store last month. I was trying to get a crop together there! I sent my girlfriend there last week. Now I’m completely horrified.

So, I am really sad today. If you love your LSS, please go there this week and buy something! Remember all the samples they have to look at in the store, remember how happy they are to see you when you come in, remember how they showed you how to do that page on the wall, remember when they called you to let you know that product you were asking about came in. Most of all remember they are businesspeople who have to pay their staff, pay rent, and feed their families while having the courage to follow their dreams.
