Scrap Expo

Ok I went, I saw, and I shopped til I dropped! The expo was fantastic this year. Highlights:

The Rusty Pickle Booth. They had clearance on many of their chpboard albums and sales on quite a few kits from their many classes. I picked up a few of those items.

Cricut Booth. What can I say except it was off the chain. The guy showed how to use the software and the new Jukebox. It seemed easy but I resisted making that purchase which would have been my entire expo budget.

Everyday Scraps: This company apparently only does shows but they had Bazzill accordion albums that were really nice and extra long so I wanted to find out where I could get more but they do not have an online store, shame on them.

The Stencil Collection: This is where I ran into big trouble. I fell in love with their stencils and chalks. I picked up the whole kit and kaboodle thing they offered in their booth.

The StoryTellers Club: I am really not a big fan of kit clubs but I got hooked. They were giving away their paperpacks if you signed up and you could cancel before it ever shipped. I called to upgade my kit and the lady thought I was cancelling because she had gotten so many cancellation calls! Well the kits are not my usual style but I have been trying to break out and try new thing and their kits are really easy and good for themed pages like holidays and seasons so I picked up the frre kits and will be getting their kits.

The Angel Company stole the show of course with their card candy. Their make and take showed how to use the shaped stamp sets that coordinate witht he circle and sqaure punches and when layered with Stickles, make fabulous embellies for cards and scrapbook pages.

So now that you know all about the expo I’ll share  what I have finished over the summer:

OMG

I can’t believe I have been away this long from my blog! I have been so busy. I have the Angel Company workshops, Meetup.com crops, work and family. I did not realize how busy I have made myself. So what’s been happening? Well, I have been scrapping trying to keep up with my stamping business. I have been working on samples for my next stampcamp and doing Funshops which I am enjoying. I have to get some of my stuff posted but I have not been online much. I spend a lot of time working out since I have lost weight (check out my weightloss sight on the sidebar if you want to know how I did it). So that is what I have been doing which has kept me busy.

Tomorrow I am going to Scrapbook Expo with my favorite crop buddy, Karina and I know we are going to shop til we drop. She is as bad as me when it comes to scrapbook shopping. I hope to find some of the new Stickles and I need lots of Bazzill.

So bye for now and I hope to post this weekend with all my new loot!

Inspired

Today’s post is a different one for me. It is one of melancholy reflection rather that scrapbook excitement. Wait, don’t leave yet, it is not in any way depressing. I hope it is inspiring.

So here are my thoughts: I was a little dissapointed today about the small group of scrappers that showed up for my scrapbooking/stamping meetup. I thought about taking the site down and forgetting about triyng to get a club started. I felt like people were not commited or interested as they said when they signed up. I thought maybe the summer weather was just to good to ignore. I also thought scrapbooking was dead. Yes I know, how could such morbid thoughts enter my mind. So I was flipping through The Angel Company Inspiration Book and Catalog for card ideas for next week’s team swap and there was my inspiration, right there on page 128: “Don’t give up on trying to do what you really want to do. Where there is love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.” These words were a quote from the great singer, Ella Fitzgerald. How inspiring. I thought, wow, The Angel Company Catalogue really is an inspiration book. So there it was, my inspiration for the day.

So, I scheduled another crop date for the group. I will post some inspiration on the group message board, maybe they just need some inspiration too. Lastly, I won’t give up. I have love and inspiration for scrapping and stamping so I can’t go wrong!

So what else is new in the scrap world? CHA! Can I just say, I am blown away this year by several companies that have taken me by surprise. BoBunny has knocked my socks off with their new lines. They have moved from the cutesy stuff to designs with an edge, loving their new stuff! Black Maret Paper Society blasted onto the scene making a big splash, I am loving their new stuff. Tim Holtz caught me way off gaurd with his Distress line of Stickles, I am ususally not a big fan of his style. Autumn Leaves and Fancy Pants are two of my favorite manufacturers and they did not dissapoint me. Even though I love BG, they just did not release anything I have to have right now. So I am still looking for a few more releases. I need to see We R Memory Keepers, My Minds Eye, and Heidi Swapp. I’ll go search for those nw and get back here real soon. So for now,

Go scrap something,

Tammy

No peeks today

But boy do I have a project to show you. You know I love altered items and this one has to be my favorite one so far this year. I have lots to show you but haven’t downloaded all my photos yet so stay tuned I’m thinking Friday I’ll have time to get it all posted. I promise, it will be worth the wait. So since I’m posting I thought it would be time for my latest edition of My Favorite Products right now so here they are:

Versa Magic Chalk Ink Pads (since my Colorbox ones are all falling apart)
TAC Stamps (of Course)
Glue Dots (love how they work on everything)
Marvy Scalloped Punches (all of a sudden I have gone punch crazy)
Bind it All
Cropadile (an old favorite)
Scor-Pal (love it)
Page Maps (love this sketch book and website by Becky Fleck)
Sakura Glaze Pens (love the embossed look they give)
Brads ( I have a million of them so I have been using them to spruce up everything from cards to layouts)

Ok so that’s ten, that should be enough to either enable you or to pull out and old favorite of yours and use what ya got!

So I’m done for tonight, now go scrap something!

The Angel Company Open House

I am having a catalog reveal day coming up on July 13 and a Stamp Camp on July 24th. The South Suburban Stamping/Scrapbooking Meetup will meet on July 20th, and I have a Scrapbooking workshop on July 31st. If you need info on any of these events in the Chicago area email me. I have been scrapping up a storm today and I am happy to say I a finally finished with my son’s baby album which turned out to be a whopping 38 pages. It is done, journaling and all! Well now I can move on to some fun projects like mini books and some altered items. I do not let myself start new projects until I finish the one I am working on.

So now that I have put that behind me, I got to work on a card and the make and take for my open house. Here is the project we’ll be doing:

Photobucket

The layout is 8×8 and it features a paper pieced stamped tag which is the technique I’ll be showing my customers can’t wait.

Here is a card that I was playing around with:

Photobucket

I colored the image with my prismacolor pencils and then used some oderless mineral spirits which I had been hearing so much about on the Two Peas stamping board. I think it came out well. I’ll try to put together a photo tutorial soon to show the technique.

Well that is all I have for tonight. No one took advantage of my RAK so I’ll give away something else next week.

So as always, scrap something today!
